So…I’ve been a bit MIA lately. Here’s why…
When I was a senior at Eckerd College I decided that I wanted a career in marketing. Our Career Services center put me in touch with TradeWinds Island Resorts, who had an internship available in their marketing department. I went on an interview and was offered the internship on the spot. Graduation was soon in sight and I wanted to stay in St. Pete and I loved working for TradeWinds. Luckily, they loved me too and hired me on full time as a Marketing Assistant. Less than a year later I was promoted.
Fast forward four years later, where a very bittersweet decision had to be made. Although I loved everything about my job and the people I worked with, I needed a change. I felt the need to grow and go outside of my comfort zone. Work with new people. Be met with new challenges. Experience a different company.
And so, I put in my notice at TradeWinds. After five years I felt like I was leaving my family. My coworkers have been more than just my colleagues. They’ve been my friends and my mentors. They have watched me “grow up”, they were there for me when my dad was sick, when I was sick and have taught me numerous things about marketing and what it means to be a hard working and determined person. I will forever be grateful for this.
So where am I now? I am the new Marketing Associate for Massage Envy. For those who don’t know, Massage Envy is a franchise and the owner I work for owns four different local Tampa Bay locations. I will be handling marketing and advertising for all four locations, with an emphasis on social media, coordinating chair events and developing business partnerships.
It’s my second week on the job and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I love what Massage Envy stands for and how the owner runs his businesses. The staff I’ve met have all been wonderful and are passionate about their jobs. It has been overwhelming, learning about a new product and getting new procedures down, but I am loving every second of it and can’t wait to help spread the word of health and wellness.
What’s really funny is just how many people I know who have also changed jobs in the past month. At least five for sure! It truly is the season for change.
After this week I hope to get back to more regular posting. My schedule has been all over the place and I’ve been trying to get a handle on it all.
