Foodie Finds June 2017

Boy, do I have some yummy finds for you all this month! Also, let me know what you’d like to see more of…Snacks? Bars? Drinks? Let me know and I’ll keep an eye out!

Now, let’s get into it shall we?

Dang Chips

All I can say about these is: dang, they are good! Sorry…been waiting a while to say that one. But really, if you have any type of chip addiction it may be best to stay away from these. Because once you pop, you won’t stop. They’re small, crispy and flavorful…I’ll be trying ALL the flavors, please and thank you.

Trader Joe’s Veggie and Flaxseed Tortilla Chips

Speaking of chips these are my new fav tortilla chips. I was intrigued because they’re made with a ton of veggies, which means more nutrients than your average tortilla chip. They are as yummy as they are hearty. They held up great when I made a healthier version of skillet nachos, and are also good for a chips and salsa snack. Oh and duh, guac also.

Cucina & Amore Quinoa Meals

These babies are hunger savers when you’re short on cooking time. It’s precooked quinoa that you heat up in the microwave or on the stove, add the accompanying sauce and boom, you’re ready to chow. I tried both the basil pesto and the roasted red pepper and both are delicious. I paired them with chicken and veggies for a complete meal.

Aloha Bars

I always have bars on hand. I’m not always a big breakfast eater and am usually on the go, so being able to grab something quick, flavorful and nutritious is always a plus. These were new on the shelf at Rollin’ Oats when I spotted them so I had to give them a try. Verdict? They are tasty without being too sweet and I love the punch of protein they give. Great for getting my morning started or after an intense workout.

Heard they’re also at: Target

Vegan Rob’s Brussel Sprout Puffs

So the first time I bought these Jon ended up eating them before I could even try them *sad face*. But I took that as a sign they were really good. Once I got another bag, it was confirmed. These puffs are YUMM-Y. If you’re not into brussels don’t worry…they don’t taste too brussely (they also come in different flavors!)…but they have enough brussel flavor to make us brussel lovers go gaga over them. Great texture and are great as a side for your sandwich or some afternoon munching.

Trader Joe’s Red Lentil Pasta

trader joe's

Even though I’m not gluten free I’m still intrigued with alternative pastas. Mostly because they pack more nutrients than plain ol’ pasta. This red lentil pasta caught my eye in Trader Joe’s and I had to try it. My plans for these pretty things? Cauliflower alfredo sauce, peas and chicken sausage…mmm.

Pipcorn

pipcorn

These little morsels are as addictive as they look. Popcorn is one of our favorite snacks at home. When I saw Pipcorn was on sale at Whole Foods I grabbed a bag of Salt & Vinegar and a bag of Truffle. Because if a food product has “truffle” on it, I need to have it. Both flavors were SO good and make for the perfect snack while snuggling on the couch watching movies.

Trader Joe’s Matcha White Chocolate Bar

trader joe's

As Jon stated, “It tastes like matcha caramel”. Jon is not a big white chocolate person, but it was hard to get him to save me a few pieces of this bar. The matcha and white chocolate are the perfect combo for a sweet treat.

Red Ace Beet Shots

red ace

My acupuncturist has told me that potassium is gold and these Red Ace shots were on sale at Whole Foods so I thought I’d give them a try since beets are high in potassium. I took one before a workout the other day and it made me feel awesome. I have some minor heart issues that potassium is said to help with and I do feel like the shot helped me. And they taste great!

Amazing Grass Bars

These bars were BOGO at Whole Foods so I couldn’t resist, plus I love trying new bars. The ingredients in these bad boys are top notch…they’re chock full of goodness. However, their taste leaves something to be desired. Needless to say, I don’t think I’d grab these again.

What are some of your recent foodie finds?

Foodie Finds – March 2017

foodie finds

I’m not the type of person to eat the same thing all the time. I love trying new foods! I’m always on the hunt for new drinks and food to try. Here are a few of my favorite foodie finds from this month. Let me know if you’ve tried any or if you have any favorite foodie finds of your own!

Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar Drinks

bragg

I have been in the habit of making my own apple cider vinegar drink to bring to work with me everyday (1 tsp apple cider vinegar, 1/2 lemon, 8 oz water). When I didn’t have time to make it one day and was in the grocery store trying to find a kombucha, I came across this guy. My inner five year old jumped for joy at the grape flavor, so I grabbed it. And it is SO good. If you don’t like the flavor of apple cider vinegar then hunt down this drink because the grape masks it really well.

Why drink apple cider vinegar? It’s been said to help lower blood sugar, lower cholesterol, aid in weight loss, help with digestion…the list goes on! Get on it!

Ancient Harvest Pasta

I am most definitely not gluten free, but this box caught my eye while I was at Rollin’ Oats (I’m a sucker for pretty packaging). Pasta made out of corn and quinoa intrigued me so I decided to give it a whirl.

Verdict? Delicious! I mixed it with pesto and chicken sausage for dinner one night and I swear I could not tell the difference between this stuff and regular pasta. I will definitely be trying out some of the other pastas when I want a healthier alternative for a pasta dish.

Bilinski’s Chicken Sausage

bilinski's

My heart has belonged to Bilinski’s for awhile now. This is my absolute favorite brand of chicken sausage. They have a variety of yummy flavors and the ingredients are minimal. I usually always have a pack hanging out in the freezer. They make a great, quick, put together meal when you add them to rice, quinoa or pasta (and veggies!)

The Republic of Tea Matcha

Since going off of coffee and espresso I’ve been on the hunt for an alternative to help get me moving in the morning. I tried a Green Tea Latte at Starbucks one day and fell. in. love. Realizing my wallet wouldn’t like me spending $5 a day on a drink I started looking into how to make them myself at home. This is the first matcha powder I’ve ever bought and so far I’m enjoying it. If you have a favorite, please share! I whisk 1 tsp of matcha with 2 tsp coconut sugar and a little hot water together. Then I add unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I’m still playing around with recipes, but so far that’s been my favorite way to make it.

Frontier Bites

The kind folks at Frontier Bites recently sent me some samples of their fruit and nut granola bites to try. I had never heard of them before, but the flavors sounded unique and the ingredients were all real so I was down. I have only tried the Apple Vanilla flavor so far, but I’m hooked! They make a perfect on the go snack or addition to your morning yogurt or smoothie bowl. I can’t wait to try the rest of the flavors! (P.S. You can get these bad boys at Publix.)
